  • Introduction to Geomancy

    Geomancy, Geomanteia (γεωμαντεία) is a Hellenic word consisted of two words, gaia=earth and manteia=divination. Divination with earth, with soil, was a common method of divination from 1200 a.C. till the end of 17th century in Europe. It was so common to see people practising Geomancy daily that the books of the Middle Ages and Renaissance didn't contain any instructions on how to cast a geomantic chart because people were familiar with the method. Astrology and Geomancy were the most famous oracular techniques to obtain messages and guidance for centuries. The question is what happened? Why Geomancy has been disappeared from our modern occult world? And why a devotee of Hekate should learn about that method? Those are valid questions that they are going to be answered in this introductory article on geomancy.

  • Basic Ritual Structure

    Every magickal tradition has its own rituals and methods of raising, manipulating, grounding energy. The following is a basic structure of writing a ritual and it is inspired by the tradition of the Golden Dawn. A full set of instructions can be found in the book The Essential Golden Dawn, written by the Ciceros, published by Llewellyn in 2004

    Cleansing bath

    Take a bath before ritual and dress in the ritual robe or clothes. Fasting for 1-3 days before is also useful. No meat, no weird drinks, no tobacco, no coffee. If you can't fast, avoid milk and alcohol, eat less, and perform a banishing ritual to cleanse your aura.

    Hermetic tradition is an oversimplified form of Platonism that was spread from Egypt during the Hellenistic Period. It was a mystery tradition for selected initiates, with books and papers circulating among the chosen-ones, but those days have passed since Hermetism evolves and changes, adopting the currents of its time. This characteristic will always keep this tradition alive.

    The Hermetic Tablet is a bi-annual journal of Western Ritual Magick edited by Nick Farrell of the Magical Order of Aurora Aurea. Is has an excellent font, decorated first letters for each article, bibliography at the end of each article, and it is easy to read. Its price is a disadvantage, but with a self-publication, there is not much you can do.

Theurgy and Philosophy are two different methods which lead to the union with God.
