Artemis

There are four women known with name Artemis. The first is daughter of Zeus and Persephone, the second one is daughter of Uranos and Phoebe, the third one is daughter οf Dionysos and Demetra and the fourth one that most known is the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Artemis was born in Delos Island one day before her brother Apollo was born. Her name comes from the word “artia” (άρτια) that means “entire” because Artemis was responsible for the people's health. Artemis is the daughter of Leto and Zeus. Leto's parents are titan Koios and Phoebe.

The Temple

Goddess Demeter was invited by the friends of the king's daughter to the palace. She started working to find comfort after the abduction of Persephone. She was repeating a ritual to make the son of the king Keleos, immortal. One day, his mother, Metaneira entered the room and saw Demeter holds the key over the fire. Metaneira started shouting. Demeter left the palace, she got angry. She ordered Keleos to built a temple in her honour under Eleusis with stone walls and in a high level over Kallichoron Frear. Demeter entered in her place and caused limos, famine. After the return of her daughter, she taught to the Eleusineans, her Mysteries.

Goddess Asteria

Asteria was daughter of titans Koios and Phoebe, granddaughter of Ouranus and Earth and sister of Leto who gave birth to Artemis and Apollo. Koios was responsible for the quality of things. His name in ionic dialect is Koios but in aiolic dialect is Poios which means quality (κοῖος = ποῖος = quality). His wife, Phoebe, had the abilities of clearness and diaphaneity. Leto had the abilities of night and lethe and Asteria was responsible for the movement of the stars and their appearance. So quality and diaphaneity born night and stars.

God Perses

Perses was son of Kreios and Evryvia, grandson of Uranus and Earth and brother of Astraios and Pallas. Kreios means the kingly and drastic energy. Evryvia means the great­ force and need so that Kreios assigns and Evryvia coerce. Astraios is responsible for the birth of the stars, Pallas for the movement and Persis is responsible for the completion of the movement from east to west.

Animal-headed Hekate

It is believed that the natural phenomena were worshiped in the very ancient prehistoric world. This phenomeno is called animism. After that period, humans have worshiped the animals escpesially the big ones. As we notice, our first ancestors were afraid of strength that was dangerous for them and that they didn't understood. After that period and with the progress of agriculture people used the woods as means to grow plants and domestic animals, so they started to see the Gods and they noticed that they had human bodies.

Enodia

History

The first Orphic Hymn is dedicated to the Goddess Hekate and it starts with the epithet Enodia. In hellenic Ἐννοδία or Ἐνοδία, means of the roads. Let’s explore it’s history! As you will notice, Hekate and Enodia have many things in common.
